In response to Tim's post...

Tim wrote about three of his favourite children's books today, so in response, here are mine... What are yours?
1. Burglar Bill - and all-time favourite with a fantastic plot, where a burglar goes around stealing things (including accidentally stealing a baby - how do you manage that?!?) and then is burgled by "burglar Betty", which results in the two of them falling in love and living happily ever after (I think? Did I make that up??). Somehow they see the error of their ways and return all of the things that they had stolen. I imagine that the baby's parents might have been a little concerned by now.
2. The Jolly Postman - a BRILLIANT book (very interactive) where you open a letter on every page. Humpty Dumpty got sent a jigsaw I think, which was particularly exciting. This was a book that I always envied but never owned... This is also by Allan Ahlberg.
3. The Magic Key reading series with unfortunately named characters: Biff, Chip and Kipper, Floppy the dog, Wilf and Wilma, Anneema and Nadim, Dad, Mum and Gran. I don't understand why the English children had such stupid names. I notice that this series is now televised, which I feel rather excited about!! I LOVED these books.
2 Comments:
3 of mine have to be the "My Naughty Little Sister" stories, "Nothing" by Mick Inkpen and "Bonting", and Alfie and Annie Rose story by Shirley Hughes.
Ahhhh yes! My Naughty little sister!! I also liked Jeremy James...
