An update on uni life...

Uni is going ok this week, we have more projects, more madness and more throwing eggs around! I hope to show you some of that fairly soon. We have finalised our rocket design (it is called "shell shock") and the promotional materials are all coming along nicely.

Our latest brief is to answer the question "What is Graphic Design?" with an A3 sheet of paper. We have to come up with our own definition of Graphic Design and produce some kind of visual to portray that meaning.

Now, my brain works in a slightly odd way, as you know, so my quote was slightly obscure. I went into a tutorial with three others who all had intellectual quotes on visual communication and mark making. The tutor got to me and, turning my favourite colour (pink), I winced and said; "the chewing gum of mind and matter....?"

For some reason he seemed to like it and said that it had 'potential'. Another idea was "How many graphic designers does it take to change a lightbulb?" Rather than changing a lightbulb, they are changing the design of the bulb itself.

A further idea was to adopt the lemon jelly album sleeve idea, where whichever way you fold it, it makes a picture. This is to show that design is about one problem with many solutions.

So it is all very interesting and all very full-on, we have another essay to write (which I really ought to start!!) and then at the beginning of December a whole new module launch again. I guess that this is simply a taste of reality!

On the plus side I have a few sideline graphic jobs on the go, some work at Glenfall House and a piano pupil to keep us ticking over a little. God is really providing where and when needed, He is really faithful.
